Obituary of Sharon Lou Whelchel

Sharon Lou Whelchel (Curran), age 77, of Minnetonka, MN, passed away on Sept. 30, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Winona Curran.

Sharon was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, where she received a B.A. in Psychology from UMSL. She had worked as a social worker, car assembly line worker, and salesperson. She was a passionate news watcher, proficient knitter, and connoisseur of ice cream and odd footwear. She loved warm blankets and puppies. She was a beloved mother and friend.

She leaves behind a son and daughter, Kevin Whelchel and Kristen Osowski.

She fought cancer bravely and never allowed it to take away her kindness, love of life, or sense of humor. Toward the end, she became dependent on blood transfusions to continue her fight. She was deeply grateful and her family is profoundly thankful for all those who donated the blood which gave her a little more time with her loved ones.

Her funeral service is set for Nov. 3rd, 2024, at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, located at 7110 France Avenue, Edina, MN 55435. Visitation starts at 10am with a service at 11am to be followed by a reception afterwards.
