Obituary of Phyllis (Clement) Zingleman
Phyllis (Clement) Zingleman
September 22, 1927 – October 8, 2023
Phyllis was born in Teddington, England. She was one of six children living over the Green Grocer’s Shop owned by her father and later her two brothers. She lived through WWII and the Battle of Britain. During the war she met Omar, who was stationed in the area, and after a long-distance courtship they were married August 2, 1948 in Teddington. Later that year Phyllis traveled to America to join Omar in Minnesota. Lynn, Joanne and Paul were born in the early years of their 43-year marriage. Following Omar’s death in 1991 Phyllis continued living in their home for the rest of her life.
Phyllis was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend who loved meeting and talking with people. She was very social and very much British! She belonged to the local chapter of the TBPA English Ladies Club for many years, was the club Treasurer and attended some of the large club meetings held for all members throughout the United States. She was also active with school and church activities and functions. She enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, painting and was an accomplished knitter, knitting caps, mittens, sweaters or blankets for grand and great grandchildren. She traveled back and forth from England with the children or by herself whenever she could. Her last big trip was home to celebrate her 90th birthday with relatives and friends in England. As her grandchildren came into the world she would visit with them in Chicago, Denver, Cincinnati, Seattle and Utah. She enjoyed playing and watching them grow, as well as, doing the same for the great grandchildren when she could. The last few years she also enjoyed FaceTiming with them to hear all about their activities.
Phyllis is proceeded in death by her loving husband Omar, as well as her loving sons Lynn and Paul. She is survived by daughter Joanne (Mike) Erdahl; granddaughters Jennifer and Lindsey (Brian) Morahan, great granddaughter Sadie. Linda (Lynn) ; grandson Travis (Kristi), great grandchildren Cannon, Brinlee, Decker and Everli. Grandson Darrin (Cindy), great granddaughters Avrie, Jessica, Alena and Keirra. Paul’s sons David, Adam and Eric.
In lieu of flowers your thoughts, prayers or presence at her memorial service are all that we request.
