Obituary of Mark Seerup
SEERUP, Mark Stephen
Age 66 of St. Louis Park, MN
Passed away on August 25th after a long year of medical complications from his July 2020 kidney transplant. He was a freelance musician of the highest caliber, playing oboe, English horn, bass oboe, oboe d’amore and Baroque oboe throughout the Twin Cities. He performed and recorded with a wide variety of musical organizations throughout the Twin Cities including the Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Minnesota Opera. He also performed and recorded with Chicago's Music of the Baroque, the New York Kammermusiker, and Indande, a flute, oboe, and piano trio. Mark was an excellent maker of oboe reeds and had a clientele of nationally known performers, clinicians, and educators. He was a Life Member of Local 30-73 of the American Federation of Musicians. His varied interests included American presidents, baseball, and jazz, especially the legendary tenor saxophonist, Lester Young. He will be missed by his many friends and musical colleagues, and his sister, Patsi Seerup of Mandan, ND.
