Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Mingo
Mary Mingo of Brooklyn Park died May 29, 2021, at her home with family by her side. She was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Garden City, Kan., and spent her early years in several different states.
Mary graduated from Crawford High School in San Diego, Calif., and South Dakota State University in Brookings. She came to Minneapolis in 1968 and was a social worker with Hennepin County for more than 40 years.
Mary was an avid traveler, a voracious reader and a passionate cat lover. She loved traveling frequently with her friend of 60 years, especially on their yearly visits to Europe. Spending time with family and friends was her top priority and her greatest pleasure.
Survivors include stepdaughter Jodi Mingo, of Brooklyn Park; sisters Catherine (fiancé Dale Blegen) Tritle of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Barbara Fritz of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; brothers Harry (Mary Ann) Fritz of Cheyenne, Wyo., and John (Linda) Fritz of Aberdeen, S.D. ; brother-in-law Terry Crow of Denver, Colo.; beloved nieces and nephews; and numerous treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Mingo; her parents, John and Theresa Fritz; and a sister, Margaret Crow.
A service is scheduled at 11 a.m. with an open house reception following July 9 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave. N, Brooklyn Center.
