Obituary of Richard George Lane
Richard "Dick" George Lane, 73, of Duluth, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his cabin on Thompson Lake Friday July 24, 2015 in Duluth.
He married Marlene Shannon, the love of his life, on Dec. 31, 1959. Dick and Marlene spent many summers at Island Beach Campground where they made many lifetime friends.
For the last several years they have spent summers at their cabin on Thompson Lake.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who also enjoyed vegetable gardening, a good game of cribbage, cooking at "the club" and ending the day with Jeopardy or Yahtzee. He retired as a foreman from Barko Hydraulics in Superior, Wis., after 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Althea and Archie LaTour: brother Thomas Lane: and infant daughter Vicky.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 54 years, Marlene Lane; their four children, Thomas (Laurie) Lane, Donald (Susan Bathory) Lane, Debra (Timothy) Medlin and Betty (Keith Mudrack) Johnson all of Duluth; brother Gerald Lane of Humble, Texas and sister Claudia Conway of Duluth; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons, and Honey, his four-legged daughter, that was at his side until the end.
