Obituary of James F Kohrt
Kohrt, James F. Age 73, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully in his sleep 31 August, 2015, after a long fight with pulmonary fibrosis. Son of the late Kenneth and Jean Kohrt. Survived by siblings Mary Fagan (Dick), Fred Kohrt (Chris), and Kathleen Rojak (Gary Jensen). Jim was married over 48 years to his fabulous wife Melinda, together raising sons Kevin (April G.), Keene (Shelly), and Terry (April B.), as well as grandchildren Annika, Cassandra, Kailee, James, McKenzie, Jenna, Evan, Megan, Micah, and Leah. Jim received his BA at the Univ. of Florida (Go Gators!), an MBA at the Univ. of Tennessee, and served his country in Vietnam. He retired a Lieutenant Commander, US Navy Reserves, and HR Benefits manager at Cargill. An active marathoner, kayaker, cyclist, and community volunteer, Jim coached hockey and soccer; regularly volunteered at food shelves and housing shelters; and served on MDH's Medical Education & Research Costs committee, Mtka. Senior Citizens Advisory Board, and Fairview Physician Associates Care Delivery & Quality Improvement committee. If you ever met him, you would know because he would have stopped to say hello and maybe told you a story, then greeted you by name the next time you crossed paths. Visitation at 10 AM followed by service at 11 AM, Saturday September 12, at Mtka. United Methodist Church, 17611 Lake Street Extension, Minnetonka. Memorials preferred to Simpson Shelter (simpsonhousing.org) or ICA food shelf (icafoodshelf.org).
