Obituary of Robert Matthews Gold
Robert Matthews Gold, age 88, passed away on September 30th, 2015. He was born on December 10, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Paul John Gold and Verda Matthews Gold. Bob grew up in Minneapolis. He graduated from Ramsey High School and served in the Air Force. He attended the University of Minnesota where he received a degree in Engineering. He worked for Dayton Rogers Manufacturing Company for 37 years. Bob was happily married to Joyce M. Cottingham Gold (Joy) for 37 years. He was a devoted and active member of Peace Presbyterian Church in St. Louis Park. He was a master craftsman and engineer, and loved his home, nature, animals, and his family and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Laurel Westling Gold, his son Robert Matthews Gold Jr., his wife Joy and his brother Paul John Gold Jr. (Jack). Bob is survived by his daughter, Leslie Vieau, her daughters Anna, husband Adam and children Maya and Naomi, and Julia; his daughter Nancy Meyer, her husband Duane, sons Justin and Travis and their wives Mickie and Shavonne, and grandchildren Chase, Lucas and Nicola, her daughter Kaitlyn and her sons Harrison and Davis; and his daughter Laurie Gold. He is also survived by his stepchildren Kathy Skoog, her husband Jim, their daughters Carin and Britta, their husbands Ross and Peter and their children Charlie, Nils and Ruth; Terry Cottingham, his wife Heidi, their son Ian, and Randy Cottingham; many other extended family and friends. We are all so saddened by his passing, and inspired by his beautiful life of caring and service to so many. A memorial service will be held at Peace Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 30th 2015, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Peace Presbyterian Church, 7624 Cedar Lake Rd, St Louis Park, MN 55426.
