Obituary of Veronica Pauline Walsh

Veronica "Verna" Pauline Walsh, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, after a brave battle with lung disease. Verna was born in Towner, N.D. August 22, 1938, and was the middle child of Jenny and Andrew Busch, and sister to Ladonna (Busch) Berkshire and David Busch, Woodstock, Ga. Verna graduated from Towner High School and went on to graduate with a Home Economics degree from St. Benedict's, Collegeville, Minn. She married Martin Edward Walsh, son of Martin Walsh, Sr. and Marion (Collins) Walsh, Minot, N.D., on June 6, 1959. Verna and Marty shared 49 joyous years of marriage, and she was a loving mother to Michael Walsh, Apple Valley, Minn.; David Walsh, Plymouth, Minn.; and Daniel Walsh, Minnetonka, Minn. One of Verna's greatest joys were noisy, laughter-filled family gatherings with Marty, her sons and daughters-in-law, her five grandchildren and countless family friends. Verna was a lifelong learner, passionate about education, personal growth and pursuing new challenges. She earned her Master's Degree in Psychology from North Dakota State University in 1976, which she parlayed into two successful business endeavors in the 1980's and 1990's. Her adventurous spirit carried her far from her North Dakota roots through international travel and moves with Marty to Cary, North Carolina, and Naples, Florida later in life. In 2011 she made her final move to suburban Minneapolis after Marty died to be closer to her family. Verna is preceded in death by her husband, Marty, her parents, Jenny and Andrew Busch, and her sister, Ladonna. She is survived by her brother David Busch and her sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren: Michael, wife Julie, children Nicole and Jonathan; David, wife Lisa, daughters Lauren and Natalie; and Daniel, wife Elizabeth, and daughter Emily. Verna's funeral will be held on Monday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 155 County Road 24, Medina, Minn. Visitation will precede the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Park Nicollet Hospice, in care of Park Nicollet Foundation, 6500 Excelsior Boulevard, St. Louis Park, MN 55426.
