Obituary of Ethel M. Schelin

Ethel M. "Bobby" Schelin age 102, longtime resident of Alborn, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Ethel spent her childhood years in Superior, WI and Alborn. Following her graduation from Alborn High School, she attended the State Teachers College in Superior 1932-33. She married Glenn (Shorty) Schelin in 1936 and they lived in the home they built on Schelin Lake for 45 years. After raising four children she returned to school, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from UMD and her Minnesota Teaching Certification in 1963. She taught elementary classes in the St Louis County School system, primarily in Alborn until her retirement in 1977. Post retirement, Ethel and Glenn spent time traveling and wintered in Southern Texas for 20 years where they enjoyed dancing and visiting with friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Glenn, and by their daughter Roberta. She is survived by her children; Charles (Donna) of Onalaska, WI, Barbara Parendo of Florence, AZ, Greg (Cherie) of Proctor, MN. Four Grandchildren and nine Great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Suncrest Assisted Living in Scanlon, MN, Diamond Willow in Proctor, MN and to St. Croix Hospice for the loving care they provided to Ethel. Consistent with her wishes, there will be no public memorial service.
