Obituary of Lorrayne E Wampler

Lorrayne E. Wampler, 95, of Duluth, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at Essentia Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 22, 1920 in Minot, North Dakota. Lorrayne was united in marriage to Royce Wampler on Aug. 23, 1939. They moved to Duluth in 1940. Lorrayne was a wonderful homemaker and along with Royce raised five children. She volunteered for over 40 years at the Miller Dwan Gift Shop, also serving as chairperson. She was the first recipient of the Miller Dwan Foundation's Jan Davis Volunteer of the Year Award. Lorrayne made many special friendships at Miller Dwan. Lorrayne loved their cabin on Island Lake and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. She had a love of the North Shore and made countless trips over the years to Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock, and Grand Marais with her son Darren, especially loving the gift shops. Lorrayne was an avid reader and always did the daily crossword puzzles - in pen. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a source of pride and joy and meant the world to her.
