S. Paul Norman
Age 88,of Minneapolis, MN
Passed away December 29, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Norman, in March 2014. Together they resided in Minneapolis where they raised three children. Paul was a veteran of the Occupational Army of Germany. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1951. Paul worked for the Carborundum Co. in sales for over 30 years. He represented the granite industry and started Paul Norman & Assoc. in 1987. Paul loved to golf and enjoyed fishing trips in Canada. He was a proud original Vikings season ticket holder since 1961. He also enjoyed hockey and had season tickets to the MN North Stars and the Mpls Bruins. Paul was an active member of the Mpls. Southwest High School Alumni, Toastmasters Intl, MN Historical Soc., American Swedish Institute, American Legion #435, Ham & Eggs Club, and the Southview Country Club (W.St.Paul) since 1972. He served on the board of the Scandia Baptist Cemetery, Waconia, MN. Paul was known as the Norman/Swensen family genealogist, tracing their origins back as far back as 17th century Sweden. Paul is survived by his son Daniel (Jean); granddaughters Sara (Jack) and René; great-grandson, Kent; daughters Trudi and JJ; sister, Elaine; brother, Caldon; 25 nieces and nephews and friend Mary Carlson. His sister Barbara Williams recently preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN (952)924-4100. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Scandia Baptist Cemetery Assoc.
