Obituary of Rose M. McCain

Rose M. (Smith) McCain, 94, of Superior, passed away on Jan. 8, 2016. Rose was born May 12, 1921, to Michael F. Smith and Mary C. (Knox) Smith at home in Solon Springs, Wis. On June 4, 1947, she married the love of her life, Earl McCain, making Superior, Wis. their home. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. Rose worked as a dietary aide at the former Superior Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in the East End of Superior. Rose is survived by her husband, one son, Alex (MaryAnn) McCain, of Superior, four granddaughters, Krysa (Cori Van Galder) McCain, Evansville, Wis., Alecia (Nate) Finstad, Superior, Heather (Josh) Plummer, Poplar, Wis., Amy (Mike) Shupe, Foxboro, Wis., eight great grandchildren, Johnathan, Noelle and Grace Finstad, Caleb and Hunter Shupe, Blaise and Vada Plummer and Taylor Reichert, a sister Donna King of Cloquet, Minn., many special nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, a step father, Ben Smith, an infant sister, four brothers, Michael Smith, Joseph Smith, Ben Smith and John Smith. Rose will be remembered for her kind and gentle ways and for her great love for all her family. She will be greatly missed by all. Visitation: one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, Jan. 22 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2316 East 4th St., Superior, Wis. with Rev. James Tobolski officiating. Inurnment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minn.
