Lauren Ager

Obituary of Lauren Andreas Ager

Ager, Lauren Andreas 54, of Shako-pee died Tuesday, Jan. 19 at UMMC from cancer that was a complication of NF1. Lauren was born July 10, 1961 in Eau Claire, WI to the late Roald Ager and Beatrice (Leer) Ager. He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School and earned a degree in police science from District One Technical Institute. Lauren worked security for Pinkerton and Pope & Talbot before being hired in 1986 as a security guard for Hotel Sofitel, Bloomington (Sheraton since 2013). Lauren worked 29 years for the hotel, nine years in security, then 20 as a maintenance engineer. Lauren had a quick mind and dry sense of humor. He was kind, thoughtful, loving, gentle and nonjudgmental. He was friendly to everyone and had many close friends. He was very involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews. His cousin Beth said, "Every kid should have an Uncle Lauren." He enjoyed Buzztime trivia. He bowled when he was younger. He loved sports and attended Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and Minnesota Wild games. He will be greatly missed but we are comforted that he knew the Lord Jesus. Lauren is survived by his mother, Beatrice Meyer of Chippewa Falls; three sisters, Linda Ager (Brett Hart) of Jefferson, WI, Kristine Bejin (John) of Cadott, WI and Sandra Meyer of St. Paul; one brother, Steven Meyer of Chippewa Falls; nephews Brigham Bejin and Bjorn and Roald Ager-Hart; nieces Alissa Bejin and Brita, Maren and Elsa Ager-Hart; and special friend Wendy Salter. He was preceded in death by his father, Roald, in 1969; his grandparents, Eyvind and Inga Ager, with whom he lived for several years; and his stepfather, Raymond Meyer. A local memorial service will be at a later date, with interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. To be notified of services, email Agerhart72015@gmail.com. Memorials appreciated for NF1 research or to the Ager Association. The family thanks Wendy Salter, David Crowley, David Jackson and Mike Smith for taking Lauren to appointments and supporting him, Aunt Borgny Ager and Todd Berg for support, and Sheraton Bloomington manager Shane Christenson, former supervisor David Larson and all Lauren's wonderful co-workers and friends for supporting Lauren and his family.
