Obituary of Gordon Ralph Marshall
Gordon Ralph Marshall, 73, of Duluth, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday Jan. 30, 2016 at Solvay House after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Gordon was born in Altoona, Penn., on Feb. 27, 1942 to Harold and Shirley Marshall.
After graduating high school, Gordon enlisted in the Air Force and lived in Texas, Idaho, and North Dakota before settling in Duluth and raising his family. Gordon started coaching basketball in 1988 and it became his passion. In 1997, he founded the East Duluth Girls Hoops Club. Gordon was a mentor to many.
He is preceded in death by his father Harold Marshall.
Gordon is survived by his mother Shirley Marshall; four daughters, Tina (Jimmy) Solots, Patti Marshall, Pam (Jason) Marshall, and Wendy (Ryan) Berg; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The family would like to thank the Solvay Hospice staff for the wonderful care they provided Gordon.
