Obituary of Raymond Edward Critchley

Raymond Edward Critchley Jr, 75, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016. He graduated from Hutchinson high school in 1959. Raymond served in the U.S. Army. He received his education at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. Raymond married Catherine Fitzpatrick Feb. 27, 1965, in St. Columban's Catholic Church in Littlefork, Minn.. Raymond was a Child Protection Worker for St. Louis County for 35 years. He spent his career advocating for children. Supplementing those efforts, Raymond worked hard on political campaigns to make the world a better place for children. Raymond served on the Fond du Luth Casino board and St. Jean's school board. Raymond loved literature, especially poetry. He spent his spare time reading, listening to music, woodworking and gardening with his wife. He was committed to his family, adored his nine grandchildren and was always available when his family needed him. Raymond will be missed by his children Patrice (Dan Menor) Critchley-Menor, Jennifer (Todd) Northcutt, Jane Critchley and Dan (Monique) Critchley: grandchildren Joe, Ted, Billy, Rosie, Tommy M, Donny, Tommy N, Lilly and Lucy; siblings Bill, Tom, Ceil, Mike; many nieces and nephews; special friends and all those that he loved and cared for. Preceding Raymond in death were his parents Raymond Sr and Maxine Critchley and Virginia Rotunda; brothers Don and Tim Critchley. The family would like to thank those that cared for Raymond, including St. Lukes Hospital and Primrose. A special thank you to all Raymond's friends for their loving attention throughout his illness, especially Jerry Martin and Krissa Christian for their nearly weekly visits. GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 in Holy Family Catholic Church 2430 W 3rd Street Duluth. Family prefers memorials go to CHUM or Holy Rosary School, in lieu of flowers.
