Obituary of Lois Boardman Neal

Lois Boardman Neal passed away Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016, at Founder's Ridge Assisted Living in Bloomington, Minn., at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 21 days. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. May 20, 2016, at Cremation Society, 7110 France Ave S. in Edina, with visitation from 9-10 a.m. that day. A private burial is planned at a later date. Lois Boardman Neal was born April 16, 1924, in Mandan, N.D., the daughter of William and Emma (Wilke) Boardman. The Boardman family lived in the town of Diesem, N.D., until moving to Edgeley, N.D., where Lois graduated from high school in 1941. After high school, Lois attended Jamestown College for two years and then the University of Washington in Seattle, where she graduated in 1945 with a bachelor's degree in medical technology. Lois was united in marriage to Jerome Neal on June 22, 1948, in Bismarck, N.D., and following Jerry's graduation from NDSU in Fargo, the couple moved to Fairmont, Minn., where they both lived for many years. Lois was active in a number of church and civic organizations. She enjoyed summers on the Fairmont lakes and poolside at the Fairmont Yacht Club with friends. She also enjoyed the several trips to Germany with their group and in later years, her bridge club provided hours of entertainment. Lois worked for many years at the Fairmont Hospital as a medical technologist. In retirement, Lois and Jerry spent winters in Punta Gorda, Fla., but always looked forward to the Minnesota spring and their home in Fairmont. Survivors include daughter, Nancy Jensen and her husband, David, and their two sons, Michael and Eric, all of Minnetonka, Minn.; two sons, William Neal of Port Orchard, Wash., and Robert Neal and his wife, Marie, and their two daughters, Bianca and Rachel, all of Bloomington; one brother, Dr. William Boardman and his wife Martha, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; their daughter Jane and son John; several other relatives and many friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Jerry and her parents. Memorials are preferred to the St. John Vianney School Endowment Fund, 901 S. Prairie Ave., Fairmont, MN 56031.
