Obituary of Shirley Mae Enberg
Shirley Mae (Ness) Enberg passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born on July 20, 1926 in Duluth to Peter and June (Caster) Ness. She grew up in West Duluth and graduated from Denfeld.
On February 10, 1945, Shirley married Warren Enberg, her high school sweetheart.
Shirley was an accomplished seamstress and water colorist. She and Warren were able to do a lot of traveling. They made many trips with friends to wonderful places in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Scandanavia. Shirley enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Solon Springs. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends there.
Church was an important part of her life. Singing was a passion for her and she sang in the church choir for 63 years.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and youngest daughter, Julie; siblings Milt (Ruth) Ness, Bud (Hanna) Ness, Mavis (Fred) Sgamboti and Maxine (Bob) Davis.
Surviving Shirley are her children Sandy (Herb) Naegeli, Carol (Steve) Grams and Brad Enberg; grandchildren Jill (Justin) Bloomer, Allison (Jerod Anderson) Naegeli, Leanne Naegeli and Ben Grams; sisters-in-law Verna Dieryck, Marlene Dow and Jan Hofstrand; as well as many nieces and nephews. “GG” will especially be missed by her great grandchildren Shawna, Emilee, Jared, Henry, Riley, Luke and Laila.
The family would like to thank St. Luke’s Hospice and Birch Lane staff at Chris Jensen Nursing Home for their tender care in Mom’s final days. We would also like to thank the staff at Keystone Bluffs for their friendship and care of Mom while she lived there.
No service will be held at Shirley’s request. A family ceremony will be held at a later date.
