Obituary of Perry Alan Rowlison

Perry Alan Rowlison, 77, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Perry was born on Oct. 28, 1938, in Hastings, Neb., to Bernard and Pauline Rowlison. His family moved to Duluth when he was a young child. He graduated from East High School in 1956, and from UMD in 1960. He taught Social Studies at Lincoln Jr., Washington Jr. and Central High Schools for 36 years. He also coached skiing and baseball. Perry married Judy Carlson in 1970, and together raised two children, Jon and Jill. Perry enjoyed playing many sports, including hockey, baseball and skiing. He also enjoyed annual family camping vacations, fly-fishing and spending time with extended family and friends. He taught fly-tying classes for over 30 years, was a Young Life and Youth for Christ advisor, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, an election judge, and was an active member of First Covenant Church. He was also a charter member of the Arrowhead Fly Fishers. Perry is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Jon (Michelle) Rowlison, Woodbury, Minn.; daughter, Jill (Alan) Brubaker, Bethesda, Md.; grandchildren, Mykaelah, Lily and Drake Rowlison, Eleanor Brubaker; step-grandsons, Andrew, Jon and Christopher Brubaker; brother, Bruce Rowlison, Los Gatos, Calif.; several nieces, nephews, and extended family. SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, in First Covenant Church, Duluth. Visitation at 10 a.m. Entombment at Sunrise Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Chapel, Duluth.
