Obituary of Sherrel Anne LaPointe
Sherrel Anne LaPointe passed away on December 9, 2024, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota.
She was born on September 9, 1964 at Camp Kue in Okinawa, Japan. Sherrel was an all state high-school basketball player & obtained a Paralegal degree & had over 30 years of Federal service with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Hearings & Appeals, the FBI, & the US Attorney’s Office.
Sherrel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, auntie & friend. She was dedicated to her family & is known as “Noko” to her grandchildren. Sherrel was a member of the Red Lake Nation & Noko is short for Nokomis which is Ojibwe for grandmother. Sherrel was also a smart, strong willed, sharp witted, down to earth person who was fiercely protective of her family & was also the glue who held everything & everyone together. She was stubborn & could hold a grudge like no other (while sipping a margarita). She was an awesome cook, voracious reader, tremendous wife, mother & friend. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband Timothy, daughters Sara (Aaron Dinger), & Grace (Lance La Croix), son Benjamin LaPointe (Sophia Summers), granddaughters Annabelle & Annika, mother Barbara Vasquez, Sister Valerie Vasquez Braun (Bryan Braun), brother Michael Vasquez, & many nieces and nephews.
While the family appreciates all the expressed concern and prayers, based on Sherrel’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held privately.
