Obituary of Nancy Lillian Passolt

Nancy Lillian (King) Passolt.Born: July 13,1929 Died: Nov. 8, 2024.

Preceded in death after 68 loving years by her husband Bob, parents Earl and Lillian King, In-laws Bob and Betty Passolt, sisters Jane (Milt) Hallberg, Marion (Roger) Goodman, brothers-in-law Don Dosen and Pete Passolt.

Survived by sister Connie Dosen and Brother in law Rich (Dorette) Passolt and sister-law Bea Passolt, sons Dave (Debbie), Dan (Anita), Jeff (Maryann), John (Rhonda), Matt (Let) Passolt and Mark Passolt (in her teens she dreamed of wanting 6 boys!) She also adored 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and had many nieces and nephews.

Nan’s youth was filled with Speed Skating and other fun times at Pershing Field in Minneapolis, singing in the Lake Harriet Christian Church and Mpls. Southwest High School Choirs (where she was also named Outstanding Female Athlete in 1947) and many camping trips with her parents and sisters.

She went on to earn an Associates of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota.

Work followed at Cargil and Honeywell. Then as a full time Mom she held many part time jobs (being a guide at Westwood Nature Center was a perfect match).

A devoted follower of her 6 boys many adventures in St. Louis Park through sports and beyond. A family Motorhome trip to Arizona visiting Bob’s parents created countless memories!

Later in life she and Bob got time to travel and explore many other places (always by car.. she was never on an airplane!).. including: The Great Lakes Region, Nashville, Colorado, Florida (and always searching for the best restaurant!) They also cherished a lifetime of memories at “The Cabin”. So much so she composed a song about family memories there, “Ode to Minong-Minong We Love You” and wrote detailed booklets about family history there.

Fond thoughts from her sons include:

Mom saying prayers, singing songs & telling bedtime stories every night like “Brian Buru”. She made sure we had adventure in our lives & were always safe.

Mom organizing the 100-year anniversary of her family’s lake property in 2009 when her sisters and their families were on hand to share flashbacks of decades of fun times.

Mom concerned about Dad’s many transfers as a Grocery Store Manager saying, “Never trust big corporations for your livelihood. They will let you down.. and never trust the government either”. This advice led to many happy years of self-employment! Millions of thanks to mom.

Mom being asked “Did you see that new movie?” And her responding “I don’t need movies.. my entertainment is my boys.” We’re still trying to figure out how Mom and Dad made it to all of our games!

Mom making sure her young boys weren’t intimidated by bullies and the last thing the bullies wanted to deal with was Mom!

Mom was a Mother Singer at our grade school, Cub Scout Den Mother, even Mark's T-Ball Coach! She was always there as a "cheerleader" for her family whenever anyone of us needed one.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff at The Glenn of  Hopkins and Minnetonka who cared for our Mom.

Thanks Mom for giving us the strength to deal with times like this.

It’s been said, “Heaven's embrace is a warm and gentle touch."  That’s Dad’s hand.. he’s been waiting for you.
