Lloyd Clifton George
Lloyd Clifton George passed away on the afternoon of April 20, 2016 at the Clarissa Care Center in Clarissa, Minnesota. He was born on July 27, 1927 in La Harpe, Illinois to Clyde and Neva (Hancock) George. He married Delores Jean Miller on September 20 1950 at the First Congregational Church in Denmark, Iowa by Reverend Homer A. Doak. After graduating from La Harpe High School, Lloyd went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He serve in the South Pacific aboard a tender for two years. Lloyd worked at the Ordinance Plant in Burlington, IA and with the Burlington Northern Railroad relocating to Flagstaff, Arizona. While in Arizona he worked for the U.S. Army as a Payroll Liaison Officer at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona for 26 years eventually retiring from Civil Service in 1976. He and Delores then relocated their family to Eagle Bend, Minnesota for a second career on the family farm.
His wife, Delores preceded him in death on November 1, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by son-in laws Roger (Patricia) Pearson, William (Donna) Street and Stanley (Anne) Klimezek.
Lloyd is survived by his son, David (Becky) George of Eagle Bend; daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Serbus of Eagle Bend, MN, Donna (William, deceased) Street of Walla Walla, WA, Patricia (Walter) Gordon of Detroit Lakes, MN and Anne (Stanley, deceased) of La Porte, IN; three sisters, Anna Mae Montgomery of Peoria, IL, Betty (Eugene) Johnson of La Harpe, IL, Mary McKinney of Duncan, AZ; two brothers, William of Belluve, IA and Robert of Duncan, AZ; ten grandchildren (David, Jr., Eugene, and Nathan George, Rebecca, Tara and Joshua Larson, Ruthe and Wayne Street and Christopher and Benjamin Klimezek); five great-grandchildren (Abbey, Eli, Tristen, Hailey and Connor George); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
