Obituary of Merle Gene Burmeister
Merle Gene Burmeister, aged 78 passed away peacefully at home on October 20, 2024. He was born on August 17, 1946, in Lowden, IA to Leone and Irwin Burmeister. He graduated from Tipton High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served for four years. He married Alice Kemen on March 21, 1970, in Minneapolis, MN. Merle farmed and worked in factory maintenance before going back to school and receiving his AAS in HVAC. He worked at Johnson Controls and other companies before retiring. Merle could talk to anyone and always made people smile. He was happy to serve his community through Lions Club events, church activities, and consistent blood donation. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ken Burmeister. He is survived by his wife Alice; son, Scott (Kate) Burmeister and daughter Anne (Jamey) Jackson; grandchildren Morgan, Mason, Alex, and Max; sister, Mary (Steve) Agne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Avenue, Northfield MN, for a 10am visitation and 11am service, with a reception to follow, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, to reminisce and honor the life of Merle.
