Obituary of Beverly Jean Sargent Larsen

Beverly Jean Sargent Larsen died peacefully on Oct. 23, 2024, in Hudson, WI of Lewy Body Dementia surrounded by her family and the loving family of caregivers at Red Cedar Canyon, at the age of 82. Christ-Follower, Wife, Mother, Teacher, Author, Friend, Physical Fitness Enthusiast, Lover of Life and horses. Born in Miller, SD, Bev married Bob and moved around before settling to raise their family in Minnesota.  After their 4 kids left the nest, she started her career as an entrepreneur, operating several women’s clothing stores and boutiques in Woodbury, Stillwater, St. Paul, St. Cloud, Eagan, Minnesota and in Ames, Iowa. She had a flare for fashion, always dressed in her “spring colors” with matching accessories.  Her ambition led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree at the Univ. of WI River Falls after the age of 50, majoring in English and minoring in Theatre. Bev went on to earn a Master’s in Secondary Education and was overjoyed when she was hired to teach English and Speech classes at Chippewa Valley Technical College and UWRF. She discovered a new passion for trying to form a love for the English language to young minds. She found comfort in the written and spoken word through short stories and poetry, and instinctively corrected the grammar of her children up until the very end. Her love for Jesus and her family were evident in her life. She was active in Crossroads Church in Cottage Grove and then at Trinity Lutheran in Hudson, whether it was playing the organ, teaching Sunday School, or attending Bible Studies, always volunteering for Jesus. Beverly touched the lives of all she encountered with her enthusiasm and joy for life.

She is survived by her husband Bob, children Jon, Scott (Jane), Daniel (Shellie), Kori (Carl), siblings Billie (Eva) and Virginia (Don), grandkids Jenna, Robby, Alex, Blake, Emma, Jack, Greta, Ted and Ben.

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Friday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottage Grove campus of Crossroads Church, 7955 Ivystone Ave., Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Twin Lakes Bible Camp would be appreciated. www.twinlakesbiblecamp.org.
