Glenn Nelson

Obituary of Glenn M Nelson

Glenn Manfred Nelson passed away suddenly at his home in Bloomington (as he wished) on October 3, 2024. He was 88 years old and wanted to go home to be with his bride and love of his life, Reonne.

Nelly was a family man that loved golf, cars, fixing things, helping people, going to the cabin, reading voraciously, telling bad dad/grandpa jokes, and dessert. (He never refused it!) A Christian man, he gave generously of his time and money to his church.

Nelly was raised in an orphanage and foster care and eventually got his GED. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for six years. After the military he learned the trade of machining. He bought a machine in 1968 and started his own company in his basement, Nelson Handscrew. A true family business, his wife did the books and his 3 sons got paid a penny a part for deburring. The business steadily grew, employing many people. The name was changed to Nelson Numeric in 1991. In 1998, he started Reson Laser Marking and worked as owner/operator till his last year of his life.

He became an accomplished businessman, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In his later years, his tender heart and love for others was often seen in his tears, laughter, and generous gifts. His life, his example, and his strong work ethic made the lives of so many of us better. We are grateful for him and will miss him dearly.

Preceded in death by the love of his life, Reonne, and his sister Sharon (Sterling Richter). Survived by sons, Reed (Joan), Lance, Brent (girlfriend Kris Chaffee), bonus daughter Cheryl and bonus son-in-law Pete Heger. Grandchildren, Riley (Kial), Tanner (Alysha) and Quinn, Nick Heger (Liz) and Vanessa Heger. Great grandchildren, Ryker, Otis, Phoebe, Dashel, Will and Kate Heger. Nephews Chip (Megan), Steve (Patty), and Niece Elise (Brian).

Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on November 1st at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Road, Edina, MN
