Obituary of Helen Louise Delaney
Helen Louise Delaney passed this mortal coil peacefully on October 7, 2024 at the Estates of Roseville, Roseville, MN, preceded in death by her parents Larrie and Michiko. She is survived by two brothers, Jimmy and David, both of San Diego, CA, and by her first and second husbands.
Born in Iwakuni, Japan, Helen spent her youth living in Washington, D.C. and Tokyo, Japan, where she attended Nishimachi International School and was a 1975 graduate of the American School in Japan. Helen attended Cornell University where she graduated with a B.A. in 1979 and then attended the Berkeley School of Law, University of California-Berkeley, where she graduated at the top of her class in 1982 with a Juris Doctor.
Helen worked several years in Los Angeles as a litigation attorney at Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg & Tunney, and later practiced entertainment law before opening her own private law practice. She also participated in her first husband, Paul Yonamine's family's cultured pearl business in Los Angeles.
Helen remarried in 2011 to Steve Sundberg, of St. Paul, MN, and joined him there where she embraced tater tot hot dish (eventually), Prince, Bob Dylan, Sonny Knight & the Lakers, Har Mar Superstar, road trips, summer sunsets, autumn colors, the DFL, eats at the State Fair, and the PBS Newshour. Helen was pleased as punch knowing that Kamala Harris is running for President.
