Obituary of Rev. James Faunce-Zimmerman
Rev. James Faunce-Zimmerman passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Jim found great joy in his ministry, woodworking and helping people with compassion and faith. His greatest joy was his wife, Susan. He was born on October 12, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa. Jim served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Jim graduated from Grandview College in Des Moines, Iowa and received a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary in the Twin Cities. He was an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Jim met the love of his life, Susan, at seminary and they served as co-pastors in Iowa and Minnesota. They were their happiest connecting with people and spending time at their cherished lake cabin in Northwest Wisconsin.
Jim is survived by his children, James Jr. Zimmerman (Tina), Kelli Zimmerman (David Heil), Shane Zimmerman (Keri), and Eric Zimmerman (Angie), stepchildren, Jeff Faunce (Amy McClellan), David Faunce (Renae) and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, parents, Harold and Claradell, brother, Robert, and grandson, Johnathan Hommer.
The funeral service will be October 19th at 11:00 at Macalester Plymouth United Church located at 1658 Lincoln Ave, St Paul, MN officiated by Rev. Adam Blons.
Private Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or to cancer research.
