Obituary of Suzanne Marie Ring

Suzanne Marie Ring

It all started in Fairmont, MN on February 19th, 1948. Mom and Dad crossed paths in the hospital being born five days apart. They were high school sweethearts. At some point mom asked, ‘Do you want to get married?’ To which Dad replied, ‘Are you sure this time?!’ So, they decided to make it official on April 28th, 1973. What followed were her three greatest achievements:  John, Sarah, and Megan.

Mom worked as an educator for many years. She loved her job and the impact she made on her students.  She loved the Dollar Store, a 30% coupon from Kohl’s, any animals, especially wolves, loons, owls, and giraffes, and most of all, her grandchildren.  Never one for tradition, she used her silly-stuffed animal voice to talk to us kids, wear funky socks, and tie-dyed animal shirts. She was a neighborhood Mom to all.

Some of her proudest moments are from her amazing grandchildren: Brayden, Lillian, Peyton, Sophia, and Wally. She often planned her evenings watching her grandkids play sports on her Ipad using a crazy, large magnifying glass to follow them around. Grandma kept close to her grandchildren with daily morning texts, coloring, enjoying FaceTime chats, shared loved for stuffed animals and creating precious moments of mutual joy together if even from afar. She loved them with all her heart.

While the sarcoidosis slowed her down, it did not stop her!  Mom and Dad travelled the United States from New York to California and everywhere in-between- visiting national parks, family, and friends. Even cruising the Panama Canal and Alaska!  Yearly trips to the lake were filled with playing cards and listening to the loons.  Through it all, she powered through any limitations her disease brought embracing every moment with a smile.

Dad took amazing care of her as her disease progressed.  Always trying to make the most of the time we had. Even in the end she worried more about Dad than herself. We are so thankful for all those memories.

Mom was brave, strong, funny, and kind. Her legacy will live on through the positive affect she had on so many people and, of course, the abundance of stuffed animals. All the kids carry on her humor. A wife, a mother, grandmother, and our friend Suzy will be dearly missed, but her love will continue.
