Obituary of Virginia R. Nyberg

Virginia R. Nyberg, 94, died April 25, 2016, in St. Louis Park, MN, surrounded by family. Virginia is survived by her daughter Marsha Smith; granddaughter Dawn Smith; great granddaughters Kendra, Tricia, Brittany and Annabelle Smith; seven great-great grandchildren; her sister Lois Carr; sister-in-law Graciela Graber; nieces Nancy (Joseph) Fink, Carolyn (Bill) Latady, Virginia/Gigi (Kellie Jones) Carr, Jennifer Graber, Jessica (Carmen) Tarrega; nephews Richard and Jim (Katie Markell) Carr; seven great nieces and nephews; step-children Lyle (Kathy) Nyberg, Polly (John) Carlisi, Janet (Manny) Paraschos, Pam (Kenn) Kiesner. Virginia is also survived by many close friends. Virginia was preceded in death by son Mark Smith; brother Robert Graber; husband G. Robert Smith, who died in 1987, and her second husband, the Rev. Warren A. Nyberg. Virginia and Warren were married in 2001 and Warren died in 2014. Virginia had a lifelong love of music, art, education and people. She was a teacher, a committed volunteer and had a special interest in working with adults with disabilities. She was a warm, supportive, and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. A memorial service celebrating Virginia’s life will be held at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Avenue, Minneapolis, at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14.
