Obituary of Trudy June Swentko
Swentko, Trudy June age 65, of Minneapolis, formerly of Hammond, IN, entered heaven on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 after a 4 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. She was at home, surrounded by loving family. Preceded in death by parents and only brother, A. Irv Lang, Trudy loved children and was a life-long teacher, most recently taught first grade at Anne-Sullivan Communication Center. She was a loving wife and mother and taught her nearly 1000 students with love, care and respect whether she traveled to the inner city area of Indianapolis for home-bound children with special needs or a class filled with many non-English speaking students. She was always willing to give extra when needed, whether it be school supplies, hats, mittens or coats for children without them. In spite of her illness, she volunteered at Waite Park School, kindergarten, her daughter's classroom. Her kindness and loving, generous spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her. Survived by husband, Walter (M.D.), son Nathan (Stacy), daughter Rachel, who is following her mother's path as a teacher, sister Heidi (Rev. Jerry) Huber, sister-in-law Darlene Lang and sister-in-law, Wallene, with whom she shared many laughs, trips, recipes and books. Trudy was loved by her extended Pancheri family. She also has many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, teacher-friends and neighbors in Minneapolis, Park Rapids, MN and Hammond, IN. Memorial Service will be at North Heights Lutheran Church, 2710 Rice Street, Roseville, MN at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to donor's favorite charity.
