Obituary of Phyllis Lorraine Homick
Phyllis Lorraine (Johnson) Homick, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in the Duluth, Essentia Health MICU, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Duluth, on April 13, 1933, to Vivian and George Johnson.
Phyllis married John Homick in 1952, and they raised their family on the East Coast where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, John Homick; parents; two sisters, Rosaleen (Pom) Brewer and Arlene Berndt; and one brother, Dennis.
Phyllis was a devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her eight children, Mike (Joanne Jarvi), Donna Hill (Terry), Steve (Kim), Joann Homick, Janet Nelson (Scott), Jimmy (Jackie), David, and Monika Berndt (Darryl McLaughlin); 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie King, Dorothy Johnson, and Kathleen Connor; sisters-in-law, Paulette Welu, Claudia Brew, Peggy Garcia and Mary Homick-Gerberbaum; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the Essentia Health St. Mary's Emergency Department and Medical Intensive Care Unit. Also a special thank you to Rachel Garza for her love and support.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, in the American Legion, 5814 Grand Ave., Duluth.
There will be a luncheon following the 11 a.m. service.
