Obituary of John David Holm

John David Holm passed away on August 26, 2024, in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the age of eighty-four. He was a resident of Lake Elmo, MN. Born on February 21, 1940, in Saint Paul, MN, he was the loving son of Eileen (Lundin) Holm and Bjorn Holm.

John graduated from Johnson High School on the east side of Saint Paul in 1958 and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He spent his career at 3M as the Director of Applied Technology Laboratories prior to his retirement.

John was a long-term member of IEEE, an international engineering organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. John enjoyed fishing, taking motorcycle trips with Barb, spending time with his pets, reading and going to lunch with his friends. John always looked forward to spending weekends with family at his cabin in northern Wisconsin and their annual trip to Fenstad’s Resort.

John was preceded in death by his parents Eileen and Bjorn Holm. Survived by his lovely wife Barabara Holm (married 62 years); his children David Holm (Rebecca Stewart) and Douglas Holm (Tara Holm); his grandchildren Bjorn Holm (Emma McHenry Holm), Severin Holm, Oskar Holm, Ingrid Holm and Gretchen Holm; his sister-in-law Beverly Anderson.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 1979 Old Hudson Road, Saint Paul, MN on Sunday September 15, 2024, at 1:30PM.

The family has asked that Memorial Contributions be made to the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine or a charity of your choice.
