Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth Bayuk
Barbara Bayuk, 71, of Duluth died at Essentia Health on August 30, 2024. She was born on February 7, 1953 in Eveleth MN to Mel and Rose Ek. She attended school in Eveleth, graduating in 1971. After graduating high school, she earned a degree from the Eveleth Vocational School in secretarial work.
She married her husband of over 50 years, Tom Bayuk on September 15, 1973. After working at St. Cloud State University and upon Tom’s graduation they moved to Duluth where she worked at UMD in the School of Social Development prior to starting a family.
During the 1980’s they welcomed a son, Nikolas and daughter, Alexandra. Barb always made birthdays and Christmas very special for the kids and later the granddaughters. She was a gift-giving expert and gifts were flawless, right down to the bows!
Barb worked at Explorations Toy Store, which she spoke of very fondly, and was an executive assistant for the Duluth Amateur Hockey Association. She rounded out her working career as an office manager and associate with the Keogan Insurance Company. Her friends were close, loved, and respected.
Her family would like to thank the nurses at Essentia’s Critical and Comfort Care Units for their care that was shown to us and more importantly, Barb. They made her very comfortable and her last moments peaceful.
Barbara is survived by her husband Tom, son Nikolas (Kelley), daughter Alexandra, and her brother John (Ann) Ek. 3 granddaughters, Emma Scheer, Molly and Hailee Bayuk. Nieces Katie (Samuel) Anderson and Jacqueline Bayuk.
At her request, no funeral services will be held but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
