Obituary of Doris L. V. Brummer

Doris L.V. Brummer of Duluth, joined her brothers and sisters in heaven Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was born Nov. 24, 1918, and was the last survivor of the 16 children born to Ole and Martha Severson. Only 10 of their children lived to adulthood. Doris was married on July 1, 1939, to LeRoy Chester Brummer, who preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1984. She was a gifted knitter, and made hundreds of hats and mittens for the orphans and lap robes and hats for cancer patients. Doris was a faithful volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for over 24 years, and made many quilts at Faith Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed traveling with her faithful friend Marian. For the past five years, Doris was a resident of Edgewood Vista and most recently in the Franciscan Health Care Center. Doris is survived by her two sons, Roy (Lynda) and Roger (Claudia); and four grandchildren, Pamela (Rick), Brenda (Mike), Gary and Jeff (Sara). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family extends a thank you to the staff of both facilities for the wonderful care given to Doris. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, in the Franciscan Health Center, 3910 Minnesota Ave., Duluth. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service.
