Obituary of Florence Ida Schuldt

Flo passed away peacefully and quietly on August 20, 2024, with the gentleness of Jesus that her sister had been praying for. She was born to John and Ida Carlin and was the youngest of 11 children raised on a farm in rural Foley, MN. She loved life on the farm, loved having her mom as her school teacher, and had warm memories of her older siblings showering her with love and attention.  Her brothers Eugene, Maurice, Bernard, Marcellus, John, Gerald, and Timothy have preceded her in death, and her sisters Celine, Ann, and Mariette are still with us.

Flo was introduced to the love of her life, Gene, by a mutual friend and they wed on July 8, 1961.  They began their life together in St. Paul, but lived most of it in Elk River raising their four children John, Celine, Katie, and Sharon. Flo was a good, kind Christian woman and raised her children to be the same.  She had a spirited personality that came through with a love of music. She sang in the church choir and her children fondly remember her singing, dancing, and music from her records filling the house. She loved to sing and dance! It didn’t matter if she was alone, with family, friends, or with the staff at New Perspectives Senior Living.  She would get up and dance whenever the music moved her.

Flo lived a life marked by kindness, giving, and helping wherever and whenever she was needed.  This was seen in the community volunteering at the local schools, during elections as a judge, at VFW fish frys, early on with Christian Mothers, and most famously as a volunteer with the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department to escort inmates to court for arraignment hearings.  This was also seen warmly and compassionately as a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She came to take care of them anytime needed, across any distance, through any storm, for any reason.  She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Lauren, Mary, Emily, Dan, Cece, Jonah, Ben, Leah, Justina, Jeremy, and Nick, and her great-grandson Reed.

Florence was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. As we celebrate her lasting presence in our lives, take comfort knowing that Florence is rejoicing in Heaven with her parents, siblings, husband Gene, daughter Celine, and great-grandson Trey.

Celebration of Life will be held Friday September 6, 2024 at Cremation Society of Minnesota in Edina. 7110 France Ave S, Edina, MN 55435 at 1PM - 4PM
