Obituary of Pierre Henry Louis d’Albertis
Pierre Henry Louis d’Albertis, 92, Wyoming, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Born July 16, 1932 in New York City, he was the son of Louis and Anna (Naro) d’Albertis.
Pierre d’Albertis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as a corporal during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He often acknowledged this time as the defining period in his life.
An enthusiastic lover of books in every form and a reader of every genre accessible to him from childhood on as an avid patron of public libraries, Pierre credited his parochial education and time studying in the SUNY system, the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque (both under the G.I. Bill) and College of Insurance in New York City with granting him the ability to enhance and extend his natural curiosity, while building for himself (and his children) a life guided by critical inquiry and independent thought.
A Marine Insurance Underwriter for 47 years, he retired from J&H Marsh & McLennan in 2002 as a Vice President of Brokerage Services. His experience in insurance ranged from working on a Marine Brokerage counter in New York, to traveling the Midwest as a marine special agent when he worked in the company ranks. His expertise was in Inland Marine, specifically in Manufacturers Output coverages; transportation; as well as Property and Casualty lines of coverage. A past president of the Royal Globe as well as Crum & Forster Producers Advisory Councils, he was also a member of Twin City Casualty Underwriters, Twin Cities Mariner’s Club, and the Chubb and INA Producers Advisory Councils. He worked with mid- to large-sized companies within industry segments of manufacturing, communications, software, biotechnology, and highly protected risks.
He dedicated two decades of his working life to volunteering with the United Way of Minnesota, serving on the Allocations Committee in support of families in need.
Survivors include his wife, Maralee, sons Patrick Sean and Jonathan, daughters Deirdre and Noel, and four grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Sonia Jensen and brother Louis d’Albertis,
Committal Ceremony at Fort Snelling will be held on Monday, September 23 2024.
Memorial contributions can be made to Greater Twin Cities United Way or the American Cancer Society
