Obituary of Carrie Jo Bisson

Carrie Jo Bisson, born September 18, 1961, in Minneapolis, began her spirit journey on August 4, 2024. Carrie lived a life marked by community, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the finer things in life.

A proud Native American woman, Carrie embraced her heritage with grace and dignity, guiding her through a successful series of careers in the Human Resources industry, where her achievements were a testament to her hard work and dedication. She pursued her passions with methodical precision, delighting in fine dining, the arts, travel, gardening and exploring the mysteries of psychics and the afterlife.

Carrie spent the majority of her adult life in California, including many years in Napa, before returning to Minnesota. In recent years, she found joy and community in Delano, MN, where she lived. Her love for dogs was a cherished part of her life, and the loss of her beloved companion, Ruby, was a heartache that never fully healed.

Carrie's spirit of kindness and support extended to those in need, despite life's challenges, highlighted her strength and commitment to her values.

Carrie's zest for life was evident in her memorable travels to see concerts, where she relished the opportunity to see her favorite bands and share these experiences with loved ones. Her passion for living fully and embracing joy was a hallmark of her vibrant spirit.

Carrie is preceded in death by her beloved soulmate, Donald Kitto, and her father, Melvin Bisson. She is survived by her sweet dog, Luna, family, friends and cousins who were the light of her life.

A celebration of Carrie's life will be held on Saturday, September 7th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Minneapolis American Indian Center, located at 1530 E Franklin Ave., Minneapolis, MN. Please bring a dish or bars to share in a community lunch for a potluck. In accordance with her wishes, Carrie's ashes will be spread in Maui, a place she treasured deeply.

As we gather to honor Carrie, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and an enduring sense of wonder. Her legacy of kindness, strength, philanthropy and the joy she brought to those around her will continue to inspire and uplift. May her spirit find peace, and may her memory be a guiding light for all who were touched by her presence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Democratic Party in Carrie's memory. She was passionate about civic engagement and would have encouraged everyone to exercise their right to vote, particularly in support of candidates like Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
