Obituary of Mary Jo Nelson

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary Jo Nelson at age 66 on August 16, 2024 unexpectedly.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothy Hegna and her brother Mike Hegna. Survived by husband Bob; sons Curt (Mandy) Bursaw, Ryan (Krissy) Nelson. Grandchildren Dominic Nelson, Makenna, Brooke and Christian Bursaw.

Mary was born on September 14, 1957 to Joseph and Dorothy Hegna in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Patrick Henry High school.

Mary was 25 when she met the love of her life Bob. Mary and Bob married on February 14, 1989 at the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas. They lived in there first apartment  together in Mounds View, until they bought there forever home in Coon Rapids, Mn. There they raised their boys Curt and Ryan. One memories is that they always had lots of animals. Mary loved all her animals especially her dogs.

Mary absolutely loved ALL kinds of flowers and gardening. She enjoyed fishing,  motorcycle rides and going to the casino.  She loved traveling the world. In her later years Mary and Bob made memories traveling in their RV.

Mary's greatest joy was her family; she loved spending time with her siblings, Joe, Matthew,  Marty and Mike. She cherished time with her grandkids and cheering them on at sporting events. 

Mary had a big heart and kind soul. She was willing to lend a hand or help anyone in need.
