Obituary of Robert "Bob" William Kopren
Robert ‘Bob’ William Kopren, also known as “Gomer” to his close friends and family, passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of August 15, 2024 at the age of 79.
Bob was born on May 20, 1945, in Hastings, MN to Theodore and Margaret Kopren. He was 1 of 5 siblings: Joanne, Teddy, Terry, Sharon and Irv. Bob was raised in St. Paul Park, MN where he graduated high school and went on to a career at 3M. Bob had 2 boys: Wayne and Todd and in the 1980’s he went on to share his life with Francis Wang and her 3 daughters: Diane, Denise and Karen whom he loved as his own.
Bob built his own home with a large garage and had an appreciation for snowmobiling, motorcycles, cars, trucks, and lawnmowers. After retiring at the age of 55, he kept busy by tinkering with small-engine repairs in his home garage and was known to be the life of the party down on Broadway Ave. Bob almost always had a smile and found humor in the most mundane life circumstances.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Margaret; sisters Joanne and Sharon; brother, Irv; son, Todd; daughter, Diane; and grandson, Steven. He leaves behind his fiancé, Fran; brothers, Teddy and Terry; son, Wayne (Mae); daughters Denise and Karen; grandchildren (Christopher, Samantha, Brett, Riley, Lisa, Jeremy, Mike, Randy and Scott) as well as multiple great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11am on Friday, August 30th at All Saints Lutheran Church, located at 8100 Belden Blvd, Cottage Grove, MN. Visitation will begin at 10am and a reception will follow the service. We invite all who knew Bob to join us in celebrating his life.
In lieu of flowers and gifts to the family, please consider a donation to St. Croix Hospice in appreciation for the wonderful care that Bob received in his final days of life.
