Obituary of Marlys W. (Meyer) Lindberg

Marlys Lindberg, Age 88, Green Isle, MN, was called home on Monday, August 12th after a hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Marlys was born in April 1936 to Henry and Wilma Meyer in New Ulm, MN. Marlys was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, MN. She graduated from Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm in 1954 and attended Mankato Business College for one year before moving to Minneapolis to work at Gambles Skogmo. While working at Gambles, Marlys met the love of her life, Norman Lindberg.

Marlys was a stay-at-home mom returning to the workforce in the accounting department at B. Dalton Booksellers. She also worked as church secretary at Bloomington Lutheran Church.

Marlys enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, reading, traveling, singing in the church choir, going to craft fairs, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on TV.

Marlys is survived by her husband of 66 years, Norman. Children Jonathan (Jennifer) Lindberg, Jennifer (Darvin) Scherer, and Sarah Burbage. Grandchildren Dusty (Fiancée Alexis McConnell) Lindberg, Hunter (Darian Matheny) Lindberg, Micah Scherer, Kaitlyn Scherer, and Jonah Scherer. Great grandson Jamie Lindberg Matheny. Brother-in-law Raymond Kehren. Nieces and nephews Terri Wovcha, Heidi Roberson, Andy Kehren, and Amy Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sisters Arleen Meyer and Carol Kehren, Son-in-law Timothy Burbage, and Nephews and Nieces Peter Kehren, Susan Kehren and Timothy Kehren.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21st at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 101 W Chandler St, Arlington, MN. Private family internment.
