Obituary of Clarice Joyce Dustin

DUSTIN (SANDBERG), Clarice Joyce, age 90, of Brooklyn Park, passed away at home on April 28, 2016 with her husband by her side. Preceded in death by all six of her siblings and grandson, Dan Dustin. Clarice was born in Lewisburg, MN, in 1925 to Pearl and Axel Sandberg, the sixth of Pearl's seven children, 5 girls and 2 boys. Clarice started school in Hutchinson, MN, but the family later moved to Minneapolis, where she graduated from Central High School in 1942. During WWII she corresponded with many of the young men she knew serving in the war effort, including a handsome marine, Glenn "Dusty" Dustin. After he returned, a romance developed and they were married on December 14, 1946. Clarice and Dusty raised their five children in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. For much of that time she was a stay-at-home housewife, ocasionally taking an outside job, but in 1971 she began working at Univac, staying there until she retired in 1989. They moved to a home on Eagle Lake in Maple Grove in 1977 where they hosted a number of memorable family gatherings, later moving to a townhouse in Brooklyn Park. Clarice always planted and maintained beautiful flower gardens at their homes. They moved to Waterford Manor in Brooklyn Park just this past December. Clarice and Dusty led an active social life for most of their retirement years, including many cruises, trips to Hawaii and to Europe, membership in health clubs and local senior groups, and numerous outings with family and lifelong friends. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 69 years, Glenn “Dusty”; children, Joyce Jacobson (Al), Carol Dustin, Glenn “Dusty”, Wendy Brisky (Kevin), Nancy McDonald (Keith); 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; relatives and good friends. Visitation 1 hour before service. Funeral Service 11am Tuesday, May 3rd at Cremation Society of MN, 7835 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park (763-560-3100). Family extends a heartfelt thanks to North Memorial Hospice and The Waterford Staff for their excellent care. Cremationsocietyofmn.com
