Eileen Gogolakis

Obituary of Eileen Anne Gogolakis

Eileen Anne (Montero) Gogolakis was born September 20, 1937, in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan to Anthony Montero and Anne (Pochavage) Montero.  With her oldest son Tony by her side, Eileen passed away peacefully at 7:17am on June 28th.

When Eileen was 16, she moved to St. Paul, MN and shortly after met Jim Gogolakis.  The two were married on February 11, 1956 which makes 54 years and 3 months (to the day) at each other's side. 1958 was a busy year in the Gogolakis household as Eileen gave birth to two sons in under a year! Eileen and Jim were blessed to get to adopt two daughters who came in 1964 and 1966.

Eileen found a great deal of joy in attending her church and growing her faith through her Bible studies. She was exceptionally talented in the kitchen as well as behind the sewing machine where she created some of the most beautiful quilts which will be treasured forever.  Above all, she loved her family and her friends deeply and never turned down an opportunity to entertain, especially if it involved playing cards.

Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; father, Anthony Montero; mother, Anne (Pochavage) Montero; sisters, Patricia (Montero) Kortman, Jeanine (Montero) Salves; infant sister, Sylvia Montero; brothers, James Montero, Francis Montero and Bernard Montero; grandson, Zachary Delong
