Obituary of Susan Mary Williams
Susan Mary Williams (Kreger) age 71 of Green Isle MN, left this earth to join her heavenly father on August 2, 2024 while surrounded by her family. Sue was born on May 20,1953 in Arlington, MN to Jim and Mary Ann Kreger and was the second of five children. Sue resided in Cape Coral, FL where she was loved by her husband and many friends including her “Fin’s Girls”.
Sue is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Williams, her mother Mary Ann Kreger, her sons Josh (Stacy) Williams and Jake Williams (significant other Sarah), her daughter Nichole (Marc) Beckius, 5 grandchildren: Adelynn, James, Samuel, McKenzi and Owen, sister Mary Beth (Joe) Schwirtz as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Sue was born and raised on her family farm in Green Isle, MN. Sue spent much of her time with her siblings helping around the farm, gardening and of course canning vegetables (mainly the Kreger love for pickles). While growing up Sue was involved in various school activities including 4-H, student council and cheerleading. Sue’s love for crafting began at a very early age which involved art, sewing, knitting and all things homemade.
After leaving Arlington, Sue moved to the cities to pursue her love for fashion design and met her husband Joe. They built a wonderful life together and had three children while living in Savage, MN. She continued sewing and was very involved in fundraisers and planning numerous events for family and friends. Later when Sue and Joe moved to Montgomery, MN she became a social butterfly and offered her sewing services to anyone and everyone. She designed, created and altered many dresses for all occasions. During that time Sue met so many great friends through the golf course and local Legion. She became a proud member of the Women’s Auxiliary group named the “Bag Ladies” where they would get together weekly to thoughtfully crochet weatherproof mats for homeless veterans. Traveling became a large part of Sue and Joe’s lives and brought them to many places where eventually they settled into their home in Cape Coral, FL. While spending much of their time traveling and vacationing, they decided to sell their Montgomery home after 23 wonderful years. Recently their son, Jake, built them a beautiful guest home on his property in St. Cloud, MN so they could still be close to Minnesota family and friends. With Jake and Sarah’s help, many of her mother’s flowers from the farm were transplanted and transformed into beautiful gardens. Some of Sue’s last memories were sitting in these gardens enjoying her mother’s flowers surrounded by loved ones.
Sue was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Her overwhelming love for her five grandchildren was always felt during visits and conversations. Her caring nature touched the lives of everyone around her. She had a remarkable ability to put others before herself and was always there to help. Sue’s love and compassion knew no bounds, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sue is preceded in death by her father Jim Kreger, brothers Mike Kreger and Steve Kreger and sister Michele Kreger, along with her grandparents Bernard and Margaret Kreger and Jeanette and Lawrence Meyer.
In honoring Sue’s life, a private burial will be held for family members at St. Brendan’s Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle, MN. There will be a celebration of life in Arlington, MN at a later date.
