Obituary of Izela Mariela Gayle
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Izela Mariela Gayle, who left us on Sunday, July 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Izela was 62 years old and was born on December 21, 1961 in Panama City, Panama.
Despite the hardships brought on by ALS and MS, Izela remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her. Her determination to live life to the fullest, even in the face of adversity, was a testament to her indomitable spirit.
Izela identified with both the evangelical Christian and Baha’i faith. In the Baha’i faith, it is believed the soul continues its journey after death, progressing through the spiritual worlds of God. Izela's spirit now soars in the realms of light, free from the physical constraints of this world. As Baha’u’llah wrote, “I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve?”
From a Christian perspective, we take comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Just over a year ago, Izela reaffirmed her belief in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Izela is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, where there is no more pain or suffering. As it is written in the Bible, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4).
Izela is preceded in death by her mother Ana Leonor Kelly Gayle and is survived by her father Alphonso Cleveland Gayle, her sister Jacqueline Olivia Stasson, her brother Dangelo Anthony Gayle, and her brother Wilbur Edgar Gayle, and her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other loved ones.
A celebration of Izela's life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 3PM at Bethel’s Rock Church, 14201 Cedar Ave, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "I am ALS” (https://www.iamals.org/) in Izela's memory, to support research and aid for those affected by ALS.
Izela's legacy of love, courage, and perseverance will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
