Mary Harrer

Obituary of Mary Lynn Harrer

Mary Lynn (Estlund) Harrer was born July 9, 1946 and passed away on July 24, 2024. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had an incredible capacity for kindness and a warm heart that embraced everyone she met.

After attending Osseo High School, Mary’s compassionate nature led her to become a nurse at North Memorial Hospital, and later, pediatric care. She touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and care, making a difference in the lives of those she served.

Shortly into her nursing career, Mary met her husband of 52 years, Thomas Harrer, and the two of them welcomed Bridget and Brian into the world. Mary was a remarkable mother with an uncanny ability to make “award-winning” chocolate chip cookies, Swedish meatballs and tuna melt sandwiches. She was stylish, loved gardening and was very creative with her painting, homemade cards, and jewelry.

Mary treasured spending time with family and friends, and the stories, laughter and celebration that ensued. She especially loved her five grandsons and attended their numerous activities, including band concerts, sports, school events, and graduations.

Mary was curious and kind natured and could befriend a stranger, often times using her silly sense of humor and warm smile.

Mary began her unexpected cancer journey in December 2023 and faced it with strength, grace, and dignity. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to inspire us to live with the same grace and kindness she exemplified in her life.

Mary is survived by her husband Thomas, daughter Bridget (Craig) Lindner, son Brian (Christina) Harrer, grandsons Owen and Morgan Lindner, and Colby, Quinton, and Peyton Harrer. She is also survived by her brothers Charles (Deborah) Estlund and Edward Estlund. Mary was preceded in death by parents Bertil and Elvera Estlund, and sisters Thelma Hardman and Emily Hoff.
