Brad passed away in his sleep on July 9, 2024 at age 67. Our beloved Brad is deeply missed. He will be long remembered for his great story-telling, infectious laugh and his generosity.
Brad was born in Minneapolis on October 30, 1956. He graduated from Edina High School (1974) and the University of Minnesota School of Business (1978), and was a C.P.A. He was a longtime resident of Richfield. His business career included Audit Senior for Arthur Andersen & Co., V.P. Operations for Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce, Controller at Showcore, Inc., and providing finance and accounting services in his own business to other small businesses.
In his leisure time Brad was a movie enthusiast, enjoyed golfing and skiing, getting together with family and friends, music and playing his grand piano, visiting Lake Superior, attending the Minnesota State Fair two or three times every year, and traveling to the Caribbean with friends.
Brad had struggled with a variety of health issues for the past ten years including Diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease, and more recently Coronary Artery Disease. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who provided care for Brad including Village Shores of Richfield and Walker Methodist Care Suites of Edina.
Preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Alice Van Gorder and brother Robert Van Gorder. Survived by his sister Martha Van Gorder and brother-in-law Roger Pilgram, dear cousins, many friends, and Roger’s family.
No memorial service planned to respect his wishes. Please consider a memorial to the Minnesota State Fair Foundation, as Brad would say “The perfect end to summer.”
