Obituary of Joyce Bauer
Joyce (Quigley) Bauer
Joyce passed away peacefully at age 95 on July 12,2024. Born in Minneapolis in 1929 to her parents, William and Leota Quigley, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Norbert Bauer and her three dear sisters, Wilota Schilling, Eveyln Bundy Lauer and Ruby Bauer.
She was a longtime proud resident of South Minneapolis and a 1947 South High Tigers graduate.
She had the gift of gab, and made friends easily and quickly, often giving friendly nicknames to people with whom she knew only briefly. She was a lunch lady with the Minneapolis Public Schools for more then 30 years, working there until she was in her 70’s, partly to hang out with friends. She was always happy, bragging about her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughter. She loved being a grandma and spending time with her granddaughters. She watched the Minnesota Twins religiously, until corporate greed took them off the air.
In her later years, she cherished her time with her lifelong neighbor Trudy, hairdresser Rosie and good cherished friend Cecelia. She was blessed at age 92 to meet her very special friend, Carl Larson, giving her one more person to love and care for her.
Today, we are happy to imagine Joyce reunited with Wilota, Evelyn, Ruby and Norm, singing, dancing and keeping an eye out for her family below. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Linda Woebke (John), her beloved granddaughters Samantha Smith (Zach) and Mikayla Woebke (Ben Olson), her precious great granddaughter Sutton Smith, and Carl Larson.
Joyce will be interred at Fort Snelling, joining Norm, in a small ceremony with family
