Obituary of Sylvester Steven Carlisle

Steve was born on September 7th, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN to Sylvester and Irene Carlisle. He was the first born of four siblings. In 1972 Steve graduated from Central High School in South Minneapolis. He attended Willmar College where he played football. Shortly after that he joined the United States Marine Corp. He served 3 years before being honorably discharged to go home and take care of his family. He worked a year for the United States Postal Service. On October 20th, 1979 he was appointed to the St. Paul Fire Department. He retired on June 27th, 2008 as a firefighter on Ladder 24. Steve’s passion for football led him to coach and be a youth advocate for the Minneapolis Park Board for 16 years. 15 of these years he led the Powderhorn Park football team to the championship. Watching the Vikings, fishing, singing and making people laugh were a few of the things that Steve enjoyed the most. He was a longtime member of Vine Church. The most important thing to him was getting family together. He is preceded in death by his father Sylvester, mother Irene and granddaughter Treanna. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Terea Carlisle; three siblings, Robert Carlisle, Jerome Carlisle and Garnetta Clark all of Minneapolis; 6 children, daughters Allichia Pruitt and Aloda (Mike) Sims and sons Lamonte Turner, Steven Pruitt, Steven (Kristen) Carlisle, William (Lori) Carlisle all of Minneapolis; stepdaughter Iisha Hinton and stepson Kalvin Rainey of Jackson, MI; grandchildren, Lorenzo, Kanesha, Davaghndre, Dorin, Aamir, Bre’Yana, Destiny, D’Angelo, Sequetta, Tatiana, Trequan, Giovanni, Abigail (Wyatt) , Makiah, Caleigha, Brenley, Javari, Titus, Malachi, Jaylyn, Mariah, Myles, Mason, Briyana and Nekole; 6 great-grandchildren, Christian, Jasiyah, Briniylah, Blessyn, Dasauni and J’shon; a special relationship with Aunt Popcorn (Ardella Hamilton) and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
