Obituary of James G. Pouti

James G. Pouti, age 86, passed away on June 23, 2024 surrounded by family at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, MN. Born in Moose Lake, MN on August 23, 1937, Jim (Jimmy) graduated from McGregor High School in 1956, where he also met the love of his life, Shirley. They married in 1958 and celebrated life together for over 66 years, raising their three children in Bloomington, MN. Jim worked at Model Stone Company as a cement block truck driver for 38 years, retiring in 1995 at age 57. 

Loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, Jimmy loved his family and life in the woods with his sweetheart.  He was an avid deer hunter, celebrating his status of bagging the biggest buck in the Pouti family. His hard work will be evident to generations with over a thousand spruce and pine trees he and Shirley planted on their land. Very proud of his Finnish heritage, Jim showed such strength and "SISU" during his health struggles in the past few years.  

Survived by daughters Carmen (Kevin Bock), Eagan, MN; Julie (Jim Dike), Woodbury, MN;  and his son Steve (Heather) Chisago City, MN; along with grandsons Carson (Morgan) Bock,  Connor (Sarah) Bock, Jared Dike, Hunter, James and Tanner Pouti; great grandsons Patrick and Brooks Bock, with another great grandson expected in early January. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Martha Pouti, brother Jon Pouti, grandson Justin Dike, and beloved pup, "Winnie". 

A celebration of life gathering for immediate family will held in August in McGregor, MN, where we will celebrate what would have been his 87th birthday.
