Obituary of Gary Edward Brown

Gary Edward Brown, age 76, of Minneapolis Minnesota passed away June 22, 2024.

Gary was born on August 16, 1947 in Minneapolis Minnesota. The eldest of seven children. Gary went to South high school in Minneapolis and graduated in 1965. He attended the University of Minnesota and later went to work for Dow Chemical company, where he retired in 2015.

Gary was very family oriented. Gary emphasized the essence of giving. His laughter, warmth, and boundless energy brought joy to countless gatherings. There was not a graduation, family reunion, or cookout that Gary missed. He enjoyed traveling, and grew to love his visits to the Philippines, where he met his partner Genalyn Dorotan and her children Daryll and Fiona.

As we navigate through this profound loss, we take solace in the beautiful memories and legacy Gary leaves behind. He is preceded in death by Mother Doris Mae Christopher, and Father Stanley Rodney McDonald. Gary is survived by siblings, Shelley (Mrs. Odell) Sumpter, Craig Brown, Monica Dotson, Arthur Slaughter, Anthony Slaughter, Rochelle Slaughter, several nieces and nephews and a host of cherished family and friends.

While Gary may no longer walk among us, he will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched. We invite all who knew and love Gary to join us and celebrate his life. A service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1 PM at the Cremation Society of Minnesota located at 4343 Nicollet Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55409.
