Obituary of Margaret Alice Tyler
Peg passed away on Tuesday June 18, 2024 at the age of 86. Born in Detroit in 1938, she lived in Minneapolis for 54 years. Peg majored in music (organ) at Ohio Wesleyan University and taught piano lessons in her home for 20 years. She was involved in local DFL politics and managed several campaigns. Peg began athletics in her forties first as a triathlete and then a distance runner. She was the MDRA runner of the year in 1999 and one year, she ran three marathons, Grandma's, Twin Cities and New York! Peg enjoyed camping, native plant gardening, cooking healthy food, attending gopher women's sports with her husband, Bob and watching her granddaughter, Allyson participate in adapted athletics. She never missed the Minnesota State Fair, especially the Milk Run and Minnesota Gopher building. She was a kind, outgoing and active person. Peg was a dedicated volunteer in her community. She was a devoted mother to her three children. Peg was preceded in death by parents Guy and Florence Tracy, and husband Bob Tyler. She is survived by her son Stephen (Melanie), daughters Karen and Tracy (Brenda), granddaughter Allyson, niece Susan Trupiano, other nieces and nephews and a vast community of beloved friends. She will be greatly missed. A special thank you to the Reflections Staff at Village Shores.
